Target audience/background of members:
CME staff in medical specialty societies at all levels of the profession.
Purpose/goal of the section:
The primary goal of the Medical Specialty Societies Section is the exchange of ideas and best practices, and this is accomplished by:

Sharing information of common interest and providing education to CME provider staff in specialty societies at all levels of the profession.

Providing current updates on CME topics related to medical specialty societies including but not limited to accreditation, commercial support, program planning and evaluation, and new technologies with the ultimate goal of improving patient care.

Providing feedback and input to the Alliance Board of Directors on items of relevance and specific interest to the Medical Specialty Societies Section.

Defining new ways for medical specialty societies to collaborate on shared goals and to extend partnerships to others in the CME world.

Utilizing the Alliance listservs for problem solving and networking.
|
Planned activities of the section (at the Annual Conference and throughout the year):
Annual Conference: As part of the member section, offer an educational program on the first day of the Alliance Annual Conference and a follow-up session scheduled during the conference.
Traditionally holds a one-day specialty society summer education workshop in August in two locations: one in the Washington, DC area and one in the Chicago area.
As part of its leadership structure, the Medical Specialty Societies Section has organized into two workgroups, Education and Communication. These entities assist the sections leader and leader-elect in the planning and evaluation of the sections activities throughout the year.
