Award for Outstanding Live CME Activity
Purpose:
To recognize an organization responsible for innovation and excellence in the design, educational format and instructional delivery of a live CME activity or a series of live CME activities that constitute an educational initiative. This may include an activity with the same content presented at different times and/or locations.
Nomination Criteria:
To be considered for this award,

The nomination must have been submitted by a member of the Alliance.

• |
At least one of the primary individuals involved in the planning, development and implementation of the CME activity must be a member of the Alliance and listed as a nominee.
|
|
Commercial Supporters may not be listed as nominees.
|
• |
The CME activity must have been a live activity that occurred between January 1, 2008 and July 1, 2009.
|
• |
The CME provider must have awarded credits to physicians either as an ACCME national or state accredited institution or by offering credits approved by the AAFP, AOA, or other established non-United States accredited organization.
|
|
The primary target audience of the activity must have been physicians (MD, DO).
|
|
A completed nomination application must include identification of related ACCME Criteria and Alliance Competency and completed Publication Release form.
|
|
The CME activity must not have been nominated for another Alliance award.
|
|
The nominee and recipients cannot be a member of the Award Selection Panel for this award.
|
|
Only one application per nominee (person or organization) may be submitted per award category.
|

A completed nomination application must have been received at the Alliance office by the submission deadline. |
Evaluative Criteria:
Evaluation of the nominees for this award includes consideration of,

Design, educational format and instructional delivery of the live CME activity.

• |
Process (including needs assessment, learning objectives, educational design and methodology, and evaluation, outcomes (as they relate to improved physician practice, patient health, or systems efficiencies), innovation and excellence.
|
|
Status as a “model event” (i.e., an activity worthy of repeating, a concept that can be utilized by other providers, etc.). |
Application:
The Award Selection Panel will accept and review nominations received by the deadline of Wednesday, July 1, 2009. A letter of nomination should include the following:

No more than four (4) typed (not handwritten) pages. The total page count does not include the face pages.

Pages must be formatted with 1” margins on all sides and no smaller than Arial 11pt type.

Description of the CME activity as it relates to needs assessment, objectives, educational design and methodology, and evaluation (outcomes).

Link the submission to Nomination and Evaluative Criteria, and include identification of ACCME Criteria and Alliance Competency, and completed Publication Release Form.

Verification nominees represent the organization referenced on the application (signed attestation on organization’s letterhead).
|
|
Do not include additional activity-related supplemental materials. These materials will not be reviewed.
|

Applications may include up to a two (2) page Outcomes Appendix, if applicable, detailing impact/outcomes data.
|
|
Submission of six (6) copies for receipt at the Alliance by Wednesday, July 1, 2009 (submitted materials will not be returned).
|
|
Only one application per nominee (person or organization) will be accepted for review. |
Recognition:
One (1) complimentary registration for the 2010 Alliance Annual Conference; the opportunity to showcase the activity by exhibiting a poster during the Annual Conference; a “spotlight” article in the Alliance’s Almanac newsletter; and a plaque commemorating the award presented at the 2010 Annual Conference.
